MAG firmware lock bypass

Infomir, the manufacturer of the MAG devices, acts now on request of the originator and blocks the Streams / Provider which offends against the copyright.

The only way to remove this lock / blockage is to install an older version of the software.
Here we explain briefly how to remove this lock.
For this you need a computer / laptop and a USB stick.

Step 1:
In the settings, switch the option “Automatic updates” out.
These can be found in the settings under “Automatic software updates“/”Software auto update“

Step 2:
The device must now in the Factory setting to be brought.
Here for, the device must be disconnected from power.
On the remote control, the menu key (3 points with 3 bars) must be pressed for about 10 seconds, during which time the MAG device must be reconnected to the power.
Then appears after the start of a blue screen with several options.
For the factory setting the option “Def.Settings” must be selected and confirmed with “Ok”.

IMPORTANT: If the boot mode has changed, it must be set to NAND again.

Now the device should reboot and the factory settings should be set up.

Step 3:
Now a laptop / computer with internet access (WinRAR should be available) and a USB stick (format: FAT32) is needed.
Now the right firmware has to be downloaded for the right MAG box. (There is a label under the device)

The downloaded ZIP file must be unzipped to an empty USB stick so that only the MAG … folder is in it.

3.2
Slide the prepared USB stick into the USB slot of the MAG device.
Now the MAG device must be disconnected from the power again.
Hold down the MENU button (10 points with 3 strokes) for about 3 seconds for 10 seconds and turn the MAG device on again during this time.
Now the blue menu should appear again.
3 series: To install the firmware go to “Upgrade Tools” then “Upgrade Software” / and “Using USB” to “Yes” and then the file must be selected.
2 series: To install the firmware go to “Upgrade Tools” then “USB Bootstrap” and then the device should install the appropriate version.
